Traveling for Recovery
Wow Whee what a week! For the last week I have been traveling with my beautiful, fun, sweet sponsee. We first went to Kentucky for a few days, seen some stuff and did some things. It’s a beautiful state. The reason was because it’s the only state I’ve never been to, so now I can say I’ve been to all fifty states!
Then we headed to Houston, in fact I’m still here as I write this. We came to see another sponsee of mine and go to a convention with her and her husband. It’s been a super weekend of recovery, hugs, friends and hearing the NA message from some awesome speakers.
Now it’s time to go home and I’m ready. I miss my Love so much and just want to be settled back in my home. Gonna hunker down for the Fall and Winter. I have several projects lined up to do. I do plan on going to meetings and getting with sponsee’s for step work and fun.
I haven’t been to a convention since before covid and I’m so grateful that people are back and hanging out together again. It was great. It has ignited a new flame in me. I needed that. Let’s just hope and pray that Covid and other viruses stay away!
While we were here my awesome and beautiful sponsee and her husband took good care of us and we hung out and had several meals together, starting with the one she cooked for us the night we first got here. We had dinner and conversation with her beautiful family. We laughed and talked and felt cared for.

That level of care and consideration continued throughout the weekend and created a beautiful experience for us here in the Houston Area of NA. I will carry the many messages I received from the speakers as I go back home and carry on with my own recovery. One thing I noticed about the members in this area is that they use and refer to the NA literature, a lot!
There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s quite educational. But I also really enjoyed when my sponsee’s husband spoke from the heart without a book in front of him. I was always told that what we share in meetings is a language of the heart. I still believe that. The literature isn’t wrong, and I believe everyone should read it, study it, learn from it, but when we are asked to share our experience, strength and hope, we should tell our own story and share from the heart.
As I watched my sponsees and the people here this weekend, I definitely heard sharing from the heart. The Love of the fellowship is alive and well. God is with us and He is doing a mighty work among us. He is building us up, watching over us, taking care of us and guiding the ones who let Him.
If you get a chance to get out to some meetings and functions , maybe a convention even, I highly recommend it. Getting all them hugs can’t be bad. I will be attending another convention at the end of October and it is in my region. Where I will see many people I haven’t seen since before Covid. I am excited about that.
I am grateful for this time that my sponsees and I have had together. I pray there’s many more to come. I am grateful to get to travel and do things. I like to go see new places and people. But I’m done for a while. I hope you all get a chance to go to recovery places too.
Question of the Week: Do you have any plans for travel or recovery events?
