Looking Ahead, Making Plans

Looking Ahead & Making Plans

It’s been a week for being busy and for putting a lot of thought and effort into planning ahead.  Which, the event I was planning for was Christmas and now the day is done.  You plan and plan, you work and worry and then boom, just like that, it’s over! Lol

I had a cool surprise this week, my grandson came to visit, spent three nights with us and we had a pretty ok time of it.  He got to see some friends and his dad of course. We spent a day together, just me and him, going to a movie and hanging out. Lots of talking. I love that. We did our little Christmas thing before he left, meaning, I gave him his present and we spent time together.

So, then, here we were, no kids, pretty much for the first time ever at Christmas time, just me and my husband.  It feels weird, but it’s ok.  I kept busy baking and giving neighbors some goodies and spreading Christmas cheer around here.

We made our way to our daughters where the family gathers for Christmas dinner. It was fine, all was well, but as always, we don’t drink or use. They do.  And so it goes, we go and stay clean and sober. They don’t. Now, we are home, safe and sound, just being us and now, it’s time to plan for the future.

So, you might as well participate in your own life, recovery and future.

I have big plans for our house and property, plans for me personally and also, we are working on travel plans for the Spring.  Life moves forward and we’re going with it. That will happen whether we make our plans or not. So, we might as well plan for it instead of letting life take us along like we are being swept up with the rivers wild currents. As long as we stay clean and well, we can dream and set goals for ourselves.  I’m grateful to have my husband as my co-planner, my co-dreamer and co-goal setter.  We have fun together.

Yes, today was nice and it’s done, all is well, but looking to the future, we need to keep on with our own recovery and being of service. Staying clean and doing what’s right in front of us to do. God willing.

Question of the Week:  What are your future plans?
