Wind Beneath my Wings

I don’t care who you are or what believe or don’t believe, Isaiah 40: 29-31 can lift us all up! “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even young people grow tired and wary, young men stumble and fall. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”

I myself have been feeling a little weary, it’s been a long, cold winter and too many happenings and responsibilities can take a toll on me, on anyone. Being sick last night hasn’t helped, but I felt this way before that happened. I’m coming into a “back up and re-group” phase of life.  I have them from time to time and I think by Spring I will indeed have re-shifted my pace, desires, attitudes and workload.

I just sort of need a “pick me up” right now and the wind beneath my wings is so encouraging and hopeful. To me, it means I am not alone, I am not without help and resources and not with my God.

If you are feeling a little down or weary, what are you doing about it?  I pray a lot, write a lot, talk to people who care about me and my recovery a lot.  I also turn to my steps and meetings, meditation readings and talks with my beautiful husband.  He most often has simple solutions and loving thoughts to share with me.  I am so grateful for him. And for our shared faith and recovery journey.

Just talking about it gave me some wind beneath my wings. I also know that by helping others I can get out of myself and that too gives me wind and strength, but every great once in a while, I just feel tapped out and don’t have anything to give or to offer another.  Sometimes, we all have to sit and put on our oxygen mask before we can help another person.

Sometimes, we are the ones who need the help.  Even if it’s just a friendly, happy talk with someone who loves us, or if it’s sponsor direction to watch a comedy or work a step.  We all need encouragement and positive input, that.. is also the wind beneath my wings.  I believe there are a lot of ways to get and give wind beneath our wings. Be looking for those opportunities and encouragement.  I am going to rest a bit now, trying to feel better, and give it all to God. Take care ya’ll

Question of the Week:  Is someone in your life the “wind beneath your wings, giving you encouragement, help and hope? Are YOU the wind beneath someone’s wings?

PS- Happy Birthday to my sister Judy in heaven, she was always the wind beneath my wings!
