Our Passions

Yet another interesting, recovery type week! It was mixed with everything from meeting up with a lady who is new to our area and seems to possess many skills and a lot of enthusiasm to serve. After two hours of talking, I found out she is my “grandbaby”.  Which means, I sponsor her sponsor.  Sponsoring is something that I am passionate about because I get to give back, help others.

My husband and I had two important appointments on Thursday, regarding our will and trust and then insurance.  I am glad to have taken care of such important business.  I am also grateful that we have things on this earth to concern ourselves with like that. That is all because of being clean and in recovery.  Thank you, Lord. Later on, that evening I had the opportunity to share at an NA meeting on zoom that was for those of us who attend that meeting on a regular basis and have birthdays in April.  It was a great meeting.

I’ve spent a big part of the week (month) working on area minutes, guidelines and the such so that we (my NA area) are all squared away and current with our business there too. Because being of service in NA has been a passion of mine for these last forty years for sure.

Saturday, we had our annual Spring Fling and later that evening I attended a play at the local college with my daughter, granddaughter and a friend from NA. Spending time with my kids and family is a big passion of mine.

Then winding up the week with our monthly area business meeting.  Which had some twists and turns of its own. Actually, I was proud of our area committee, they stood up for what they believed in and what they are passionate about.

All in all, I’d say it was a pretty good week of recovery and just living life.  Taking care of business and caring for one another.  I am passionate about that also.  Meanwhile my husband and I continue to read our daily meditations together and heal and grow and trust our Lord. I’m very passionate about the Lord and my faith. For that, I am truly grateful. I have much to be grateful for, that is for sure.

Also, this week, my husband and I started back to work on Our Story, I love doing that too.  Writing is my passion. And as I begin to let go of other obligations, duties and service commitments that I’ve done way too long, I am finding more time to pursue that passion and it feels great. Afterall, our passions are God given and serve us in our pursuit of recovery from drug use and abuse. What a joy that is. I pray that my husband gets to see his project in restoring his ‘29 Model A Ford to completion and has fun doing it.

Little by little we work on our “projects” and ask our Higher Power to guide us through it all. Living and enjoying life a day at a time.  We didn’t get clean to be miserable or to not give back and help others. We try to live this way every day.

I hope you are all able to find your passions and work on them, while helping others and giving back.  They tell me that your calling or passion is the thing that you most enjoy doing. So, check that out. Pray on it, you’ll find it.

Question of the Week: What is your passion? Are you pursuing it?
