Blessings

One more time, what a week! Jam packed with all kinds of different life events.  Everything from doctor visits and diagnoses. Family lunches with relatives just visiting from far and away. A Zoom wedding for my beautiful sponsee, letting go of a meeting I’ve been secretary of for a year and the death of an old friend.  My husband had known Mike for sixty-six years.    Also, as crazy as this sounds, going to a zoom NA meeting with my grandson who is almost gonna be a doctor and has never touched a drug in his life.

Then we round off the week with taking care of a sick pup because my son and his girlfriend left town for a few nights and the boy and I were so scared that the pup would not survive the night with us.  Plus, a regional meeting for the website this morning and our annual Spring Fling in the park with 35+winds and gust’s up to 60 mph. But it was still fun to see some of the people.

Blessed wedding wishes

Of all this week’s events, the zoom wedding was my favorite event. In fact, probably my favorite event of the season!  My beautiful sponsee finally married the man she’s been in love with since I’ve known her (ten years) and she looked so so happy, beautiful and glowing. The best part? They are both in recovery and doing this journey together.

I’ve been encouraging this wedding for years! They live in another state now and so I did my zoom for the wedding so that all of us back home, her family and friends here, plus his family in the mid-west could witness it and be a part of.  It was beautiful.  Her big ol smile, his too, was the best part for me!  I wish everyone who wants to get married could work through the twelve steps first! Plus, I know these two have put some time and effort into couples counseling and have come far in their commitment to each other.

What a blessing huh?  But having a friend for sixty-six years is a blessing as well. According to Mike’s family that I spoke to, he had all his family, kids and grandkids around him the last couple of days.  The room was full of love and compassion. Memories of their dad that I’m sure come flooding in. He had been married to his beautiful wife for about fifty-eight years.  Wow!  You just don’t see too many bikers like that.  Cool huh?

The dog survived and that is a blessing too, I lost sleep that night worrying that my grandson would find him dead, and he’s real attached to that dog and it would have devasted him.  The pup started eating again the next morning, praise the Lord. He is much better now, thank goodness.

Reaching Out

Letting go of the women’s meeting as the secretary is also a blessing.  It was a blessing to be a part of holding the meeting together through the pandemic and encouraging new women to stay clean, despite the obstacles they faced.  We are growing and doing well.  It is also a blessing to pass on the privilege of being of service.  I care a lot for the new secretary and pray she does well and grows as I did in that position and is blessed by it.

Being of service to our website and attending the meetings required for that position is also a blessing.  Hanging out with awesome people who are long time servants in NA is a blessing to be around them.  Going to the thirty-sixth annual Spring Fling is a blessing also.  My husband and I started this event way back then, I was activity chair for nearly twenty years and now I can just go and relax. Hanging out with other people in recovery is always a blessing and the speaker was good too.

As I mentioned, I was in an NA zoom meeting this week with my oldest grandson who is nearly done with medical school. He had to find out what we were about for a school assignment and ask me about a meeting he could go to.  The one we went to has a lot of people with a lot of clean time and although many live around our area, many others live all over the states, and the world.  With about fifty plus people in attendance who told us how much time they have clean, it added up to seven hundred and eighty eight years!  That averaged out to about fifteen years for everyone there.  But of course, some only had a few days, weeks or months clean.  But it averages out that way. What a blessing. I’m glad he got to see this and hear a couple of good speakers.

Every day is a blessing! Every life, everything we do for the good of the whole. Being of service is a blessing, loving, and caring for each other is a blessing.  God may seem to lay it on others more that you, that’s what I always thought. But when I started being grateful for what I had and started being a servant, the blessings just roll in.  I do not have a lot of money or a big house and I’m not a celebrity.  But I have everything I need and want and then some.  God is good.

Religious Mother's Day Messages | CardMessages.com

Sunday was Mother’s Day and I know that not everyone had a good mother, (like the speaker we heard yesterday- so sad)  but most people have had a mother that they will love forever and be grateful for forever. If you are a mother, I say happy Mother’s Day and God bless you, it’s the hardest job in the world, but the most rewarding.  If you have lost your mom, I say God Bless you and keep her in your fondest memories.  Remember the blessings. If you still have your

mom, enjoy her and be grateful, do not waste days complaining and expecting more from her.  Just love her and give her blessings of all kinds.  The biggest is time.  Just spend a little time with her and hug her, tell her thank-you, that will bless her the most, I promise.

My prayer is for you all to be blessed, loved and care for, by your Higher Power and loved ones.  I also pray that you will be  a blessing to others.
