Blog for August 8, 2022
It’s been a week since we left home and headed off on new adventures. And boy, have we already had some. It’s been a good trip thus far, but last night I was attending a “bucket list” concert. Actually the venue was the bucket list part, as I’ve seen the performer before, several times. Joe Bonamassa, he is one very talented guy and his music makes me happy.
Anyway, it is an outdoor venue, the Red Rock Canyon amphitheater. Soon, it started raining, bad. We were getting soaked. My brother had left for the restroom, ,and I told my sister in law, lets go find a restroom also. But boy oh boy, all up hill while the rain poured down all those slippery rock steps, up, up, up, the water was cascading down like a waterfall. We were soaked to the bone.
Now, we were expecting some rain, so we had some of the right gear, but not a torrential down pour. We hung out in the rest room for a while, tried to dry off some and the rain let up and we went back to our seats and found my brother. The band would not start due to the lightening. I don’t blame them. But as we sat there, the rain started coming heavy again. So we ended up going to the car to get out of the rain. Two hours late, the band started playing. They played almost two hours. It was still raining, but like a mist.
Once we got back to their hotel, my husband and our dog were waiting there for me, as, we were staying at a campsite about an hour away. We headed back to camp, it was after midnight- way after our bed time, lol. We stopped for gas and I noticed I did not have my bag and my whole life is in that bag! Ugh. I called my brother and he said it was in his car so we had to double back and go get it. That whole venture took another hour out of our night.
By 2am we are getting to our camper. I was still soaked and we were dog tired. I told my husband we had to bite the bullet and go back for it because in the morning- which is now, we have to pack up and leave this camp and head to the next. And so, we will.
Also, today, our boy is starting eighth grade and a whole new life, I pray he loves it and does well there. It is time to let go, bite the bullet again and move on. It takes some adjustments. I am grateful he is in a good place and we are being us, rain and all.
My husband does not do well in high altitudes and it was pretty rough for him so I’m glad we’re leaving this mile high place today and headed to lower elevations. He has definitely been biting the bullet and I know he’s done it for me, because of my bucket list concert.
So here we go onward and upward, new adventures ahead. Letting go of the past, not using no matter what, and embracing what lies ahead of us, God be with us.
Question of the Week: What have you had to bite the bullet about lately?
