Counting my blessings

Another week of June birthdays and my youngest granddaughter graduated from high school, whoo hoo.  Besides those celebrations I have stayed close to home, doing much needed things here.  I was excited that my son came and spent the night with us last Wednesday and then I took him to buy an old car off of his friend.

So, all is well in our world, for the time being, today we drove into LA (ugh) for our friends 50th clean time anniversary, whooo hooo.  I was excited to see him and other old timers we haven’t seen in a while. My sponsor was going to come, but she fell and hurt her back. In fact, we kind of had a series of unfortunate events as we headed to LA. Starting with my sponsor getting hurt.

As usual, we had to keep coming back into the house for something we had forgotten. Finally, we took off, worrying about time and traffic. We stopped for gas and my husband locked the keys in the truck, and of course, we had both left our phones in the truck too. A guy working there helped up get in the truck, yay.  Then we took off, got to the next town and boom, grid lock, so we got off the freeway and took another route we know, but my husband didn’t want to follow the GPS directions, so we ended up on a dirt road! Lol, then we followed directions.  Ha! It all turned out ok and we were there on time. 😊

Yet, with the good times and celebrations, there are always difficult people looming about and I had been praying on how best to deal with them. Always trying to be aware of what is my part and what is not.  When I should speak up and when I shouldn’t.  The people at the center of the issues are not close to me and are not important relationships to me.   However, I do not want to hurt or offend anyone if I can help it, but the truth might have to come out.

I try like heck to work an honest program, praying for God’s will not mine. So, I leave it there and let the Lord lead. And, indeed I did and He helped me through those situations.  It was not all that easy for me, but with prayer and being thoughtful and kind, I am moving past it all. I believe we had the best possible outcome, for now at least.

As I look forward to the coming week, when my grandson comes for a visit and we celebrate the twins birthdays and graduation, plus my husband and other grandson- all on the same day- I will relish each moment and love them all.  I know that each event, each relationship with family is a gift from God and I will stay in a state of gratitude through it all.

Question of the Week:   Have you been counting your blessings lately too?
