More Blessings!
First thing- Happy 7th birthday to my sweet little great grandson. He is a blessing and a gift from God. Meanwhile, his baby brother turned One last week, another adorable, precious baby. We are so blessed and grateful that God continues to grow our family. I’m especially grateful for their dad, my first born grandchild and soon to be doctor. Wow whee, the gifts just keep on coming and this Thursday my oldest great grandchild will be eleven, she lives far away but we will zoom with her on her birthday. You see what I mean? Blessings, blessings and more blessings. Every single one of our children are gifts from God. I just wish everyone felt that way.
More blessings of the week include getting a broken tooth fixed, just before my dentist left for a month-long vacation! I’m so glad it happened just before he left! Yay. Also, this week I got to hang out with some of my sponsee ladies at the women’s campout, we just went for a day. A flash flood was coming, and we had quite a ways to drive. But the “sister-shipping” as I call it was great. I always love my time with NA women, especially my sponsees. More blessings.
We also had a very nice Area business meeting this weekend, all went well. And we heard of an opportunity to carry the message to our local community about the fentanyl crisis. So of course, we will be there! It is a huge blessing to us to have that opportunity to carry a message of recovery. That’s what we’re all about. Thank you, God, I pray it helps someone. I also had the blessing of having a good long talk with my new brother across the country. We seem to have a few medical type things in common, I guess that’s just part of our genes. It is a blessing that I can finally know what kinds of issues run in my biological dad’s side of the family. That is another huge blessing.

This week, one of my dearest and closest friends quit her job of seven years. She walked out and she came here to my house, for hugs, crying, venting and prayer. It was a long time coming and I’m proud of her, a person can only put up with abuse for so long until they just snap. I know she will be ok, this is a growing time for her, a time to truly trust God. I’ve been in those times too and I know it was a spiritual growing time for me, to learn to trust my Higer Power more and more and there is always a big blessing when I come out the other end of the ordeal, God is good.
All I know is, that since the first day I quit using drugs, April 1st, 1985, I have been blessed, each and every day. In the beginning, I didn’t even notice it, I took it for granted, but as time goes by, I am hyper aware of my blessings, what God has done for me. It’s amazing. Since I got clean, we got married, finished raising some kids, had a bunch of grandkids and as I said earlier, we now have four great grandkids. Our kids are amazing. We have true friends and strong connections in our fellowship. We still have each other! We have sweet little place to live, comfy and safe. We have food, cars, stuff, memories. Of travel, birthday parties, weddings and yes, funerals. We’ve both been blessed to be there for our parents right up to the end of their lives.
I’ve had the privilege to go to college and earn degrees, to build a career in education and counseling and to get set up for retirement, huge blessing right there. And most importantly to help and guide others, to be of service. To God and the fellowship and my community. Even in my neighborhood. That was a blessing for sure, we banded together and stopped gang violence in our neighborhood. Thank you, Lord!
Question of the Week: What are some of your blessings?
