For Your Consideration

This is not a new term, it’s an old one that seems to be revamped as of lately, and I like it.  “For Your Consideration” is tagged onto trailers of upcoming movies lately.  It seems a nice, more gentle way of encouraging people to watch/buy their products.  I like it.

It’s mostly been used in resumes, letters of recommendations and business offers.  So, it caught my eye the other day and I thought about how much we all do have to consider.  We need to consider our lives! Our needs, wants, goals, dreams, families, friends, health, jobs, political views and thoughts.  For your consideration basically is just saying “check it out”, try it and see if you like it.

Still, what really sticks in my mind about consideration goes a couple of different ways. 1.) being a kind, loving, considerate person. 2.)  Consider recovery: staying clean and working a program.   Thinking about the first one I personally believe that this is what “working a program” leads to.  If I stay the course, clean up my past mistakes and take responsibility for my own actions and decisions, past, present and future then perhaps I will become the considerate and kind person God intended for me to be.

Things to consider

On number two, it is really just an extension of number one.  Continuing in recovery and “working my program”. Doing my best to stay true to my faith and follow a better way of life than the one I had indulged in before I got clean.

For your consideration I would like you to think on these things, whatever is good, lovely, honest, real and right. If you are considering getting clean and having a better life, I encourage you to the greatest extent I can.  I cannot say enough about having a life worth living.  The life that God intended for you.

Consider having a good night’s sleep, consider eating right. Consider treating your people with love and care. Consider how you treat yourself, that’s a crazy thought isn’t it? It sure was for me before I got clean. Being good to our own selves was a strange concept back then.  Just consider it.  Consider reaching for your dreams and accomplishing them. Think of how that would be.  You have purpose and you have dreams. So maybe check it out, see if you like it, if not, you can always go back to the crazy insane life of drugs, but please.. first, consider it all.

Question of the Week:  For your consideration – you can change the path you’re on, you can strive for your goals and dreams.  What might they be?
