Plus One (41)
Do you ever get an invitation that says you can bring a guest with you if are just one person, they say you can bring a “plus one”. Well, that’s not exactly what I will be talking about here. My “plus one” is that I now have forty years clean, plus one year more. It’s forty and one for me. I was very excited when Jim and I got forty years clean and married last year. Because it is a highly spiritual number. And so, it was a wonderful and blessed year for sure. Also, this last year I had a lot of practice in learning to trust God. We had so many wonderful blessings and adventures.

When I think of “plus one” I also think of when we have a new grandbaby, or a grand child that gets married and we add one more person to our growing family. More to love. I think of the newcomer at a meeting, one more person that does not have to die due to using drugs. I think of another person that accepted the Lord into their lives and began to live a life of love and purpose.
I also think of how I grew up hearing “there’s always room for one more”. I guess we were into the “plus one” way before it was in style. 😊 There’s always room at the table for one more as well. These kinds of words and thoughts make me feel a part of and helps me to feel welcomed and wanted. That’s what we do in the programs, in church and with our families.
Today, as I write this, it is Easter Day which is a day of love and acceptance. A day of miracles and surrenders. A day of being with the people you love and the ones who care about you. I realize that there are many people who do not partake of this holiday or maybe they do not have a way to church or people to share it with. Some by choice, some not by choice. We often watch church on TV, and we attend a lot of zoom meetings too. But when we are able, it is really nice to get out and see people. Especially today because it was a really nice, sunshiny day outside.

For me, this is a day of gratitude and love, I am so grateful my God has kept me clean and in recovery for forty-one years. I just pray to use my clean time wisely and help the people He puts in front of me to help. Thank you Lord for these last Forty-one years of living life on life’s terms and loving others. Giving and getting love freely in the rooms. It’s been amazing.
My hope and my prayer for you all is that you spent this Holy day the way you desired and with the people you wanted to spend it with. If it is not a Holy day for you, I still pray it was a good day for you and yours. Especially if you have a “plus one”.
Question of the Week: How do you feel when a new member comes to your family, church, meeting or club?
