Leaks, Steps, Friends, Prayers, Meditations, Biopsies, Work meetings, Graduations and Memorial Day!

What a week! Starting with a work meeting about reinstating a Drug & Alcohol aka “Addictions program” to our college. Which is exciting but it’s going to take some work to get it up and running, I’ve already been on the team for over a couple of years. The wheels move slowly I tell ya. But we had a good meeting, it was encouraging to me. My mentor came and some people who are in charge of big programs. It was good. I’d love to see our college and community grow in helping people to get off drugs.

Meanwhile, the week took its toll in other areas, I had two biopsies and the wounds are still healing, that wasn’t much fun, but it beats the alternative that’s for sure. Then there has been a constant leak in our backyard area, with the plumbing that is buried underground. A very super nice friend, a sponsee of my husband’s, is a plumber and he has been helping us to find the source and fix it. He thought he fixed it a couple of times but then there was more leaking, it’s been an ongoing nightmare. We had to move a lot of things and pull up flooring on back porch and dig into the dirt underneath. It’s gone on and on. No end in sight at this point.

I keep praying and giving it to God, I keep praying for our friend and that he is ok, he’s put in a whole lot of hours here this week. He even broke out in a rash where he’d been laying on the deck. It’s hard work digging and replacing plumbing. He is not a spring chicken either. I am so grateful to him. Sooooo grateful. Even though I was pretty fed up with the whole mess, I am still grateful and there is nothing to get loaded about. God is good, always. Today’s meditations were right on point for this whole business.

Meanwhile, the good stuff…. graduations abound! My oldest grandson is receiving his MD license, he’s amazing. One of our beautiful granddaughters received her B.A. in Liberal Studies and Art, she plans to be an Art Teacher. That sounds fun. One of my sponsee’s received her AA in sciences to become a nurse, and our friend, a young lady who is the daughter of a friend in the program, I’ve known her since we was a little girl and now she is my helper around here, a very sweet young lady graduating from High School. So proud of them all, they are truly blessings to us. I love to see people succeed and overcome, especially our loved ones.

Then there’s the whole, it’s a holiday and we get to honor our loved ones and vets. Memorial Day is time to reflect and remember. Not that we don’t do that pretty much everyday of the year, I know I do, I have many loved ones that I miss so very much. But it’s like the whole country stands still and takes a moment to honor them all, that is precious in my sight. I hope we have our house put back together enough to maybe BBQ. We’ll see.
For now, I am so tired and I keep fighting off discouragement about all our plumbing issues in this old house. Nothing is going easy or going right and I worry for my friend in there working on it still, so tired and fed up too. I pray it all works out, I know for me this is a step one, two and three situation. Give it to God!
I hope you all have a loving, safe and honorable Memorial Day, loving the ones you’re with now and loving the memories of those who have gone before us. I will do my best to live admirably in their honor, amen. God bless you all.
Question of the Week: Who are people at the top of your Memorial list? Do you have any special plans for honoring them?
